The Partner (subclass 820/801) visa are for partners who are already in Australia and are in a genuine and ongoing relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The subclass 820 visa is a temporary visa that allows partners to live in Australia with their sponsor while their permanent subclass 801 visa application is processed. Once the permanent visa is granted, partners can stay in Australia indefinitely, work, study, and access healthcare.

Prospective Marriage Visa

The Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) is for individuals who are engaged to be married to an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen and wish to enter Australia to marry their partner. This visa is valid for nine months and requires applicants to marry their sponsor within this period. After marriage, applicants can apply for an onshore partner visa to remain in Australia permanently.
